What have I learned during this week? Well, first of all, I've been using Breaking News for my classes. I really like that site, and my students feel enthusiastic reading the news, so it's a great and useful tool.
Second, thinking about a problem makes you create solutions with technology. Before, the technology was the problem, I wouldn't use too much, because it might not work. Now, in this course I've changed my point of view, technology can be the solution to resolve motivation issues for example.
Finally, I think I'm creating a new blog, and not just commenting on mine over and over. Let's see!

Hi Marga!
ReplyDeleteI found your thought of finding the technology the problem so familiar to me, and I have to admit that I still haven't quite got rid of that attitude. That is partly explained by the fact that we often have problems either with the internet connection or with some of the (older) computers not working at all. So whenever I get the courage to plan a lesson which is held in the computer class, I'm very nervous about everything working the way it should. Making the lesson plan reminded me of the fact that I really have to prepare a plan B for the technology-is-not-working situations.
Take care!
Tuula
Hello Marga and Tuula,
ReplyDeleteI have a similar opinion about using technology in the classroom. I am always worried that something can go wrong. Though I usually have Plan B in case I can't use technology, I always feel disappointed when it happens. My plan B is always something traditional that does not require technology, so I often think that the lesson was not as interesting for the students as it could have been if I could use a technology tool.
